Amazing Landscape Cinematography

I was introduced to Terje Sorgjerd’s work awhile back when looking for some images to feature of the Aurora Borealis (check out these really cool photos here, Amazing photos of the northern lights). He has produced a video of the northern lights that was just spectacular and really amazed me.

Terje’s work is beautiful, the light that he captures in the landscape is amazing and the ebb and flow of water, clouds and other parts of the video really provide a huge sense of life to the landscape.

He uses a canon 5d Mark II camera, and a variety of lenses including the following; Canon 17mm TSE, Canon 16-35mm, Canon 24 f1.4 and a Sigma 12-24 to capture these time lapse movies and they are truly breathtaking.

This movie below was filmed between 29th April and 10th May 2011 in the Arctic, on the archipelago Lofoten in Norway. Here is a little more information from Terje on the movie:

I have decided to call The Arctic Light and it is a natural phenomenon occurring 2-4 weeks before you can see the Midnight Sun.

The Sunset and Sunrise are connected in one magnificent show of color and light lasting from 8 to 12 hours. The sun is barely going below the horizon before coming up again. This is the most colorful light that I know, and the main reason I have been going up there for the last 4 years, at the exact
same time of year, to photograph.

Do you shoot video with your DSLR? What type of videos do you shoot. Let me know in the comments below. I am working to create some tutorials on DSLR video and fusion videos so stay tuned for more info.

Here is a little inspiration for everyone to enjoy!

  1. I feel because of my blonde hair in my youth that somewhere in my genes I defended from Nordic ancestry . When my father spoke of the northern lights he would have encountered strolling home on summer nights I felt a fixation to go there to see this wonderful sight . My wildest dreams would not have equaled this beautiful video and it speaks to those feelings I had so long ago

    Thank you for this
