Adobe To launch CS5 Suite on April 10th 2010
Adobe announced they will be launching their next major upgrade of Photoshop and the rest of the Creative Suite on April 10th, 2010. While this isn’t a true “launch” like you would think (CS5 is not available for sale on April 10th) they are just releasing the details of what CS5 will have on April 10th, 2010 and probably announce the real sale date. This really is just Adobe’s way of trying to build up buzz for their launch that might happen in the fall of this year. They are taking a cue from Apple just like a lot of companies have lately. Holding an event and trying to build up buzz for the event that is basically just announcing the features of their product to come. I do have to admit Adobe hasn’t done anything lately to convince me to upgrade my current CS3 version. When the details are announced i’ll give you all my feedback on the new version and if I think it will be a worthy upgrade. With any type of upgrade (software, cameras, computers, etc..) I always think through how it will really save me time and if it’s worth the upgrade cost. It can get very easy to get caught up with all of the hype and want to upgrade all of your equipment all the time but if your business is photography sometimes it pays to wait out a version until the next year. There will always be something new out next year for you to buy.
Here are a couple of videos highlighting some of the changes that might be coming in CS5. The content aware fill might be a useful way to clean up files vs. using the healing brush or the stamp. But always remember the fastest way to clean up an image is taking a second while shooting and if there is some trash on the ground pick it up and throw it away. That is always the best way to save post production time!
