A look back at 2013 on Digital Photo Buzz
I posted some of our top posts of 2013 earlier today and wanted to take a minute to look back at everything that went on this year and whats to come in 2014.
First a huge thanks to all of our readers, your comments, feedback keep me posting and it’s been great to connect with many of you through social media. Although I wanted to write a post a day for this year and wasn’t able to come even close to that there were still a lot of big things happening on the site. We ended up with over 620,000 people that viewed the website and although I wanted to hit the 1 million mark this year we did pass the 2 million mark overall for our site visitors! I never thought that we would have a tenth of that when I started so thanks again to everyone for visiting and sharing out your favorite articles!
Although most of our visitors came from the US, Canada and the UK we did have visitors from over 200 countries! Check out the map below for the countries we had visitors from, pretty awesome!
For 2014 one of my top goals is to create more tutorials for Lightroom and Photoshop and start doing more video tutorials. I also want to create some quick and easy tips for everyone to improve your photography and really focus in on Lighting which has always been one of the most common questions I get on the site. If you ever run into something you would like to learn more about leave a comment on any post, I love to hear from you and incorporate that into our future article plans.
We also did a big site redesign this year that was long overdue and also still has a long way to go. I really wanted to simplify the overall look and feel of the site. Overall I think the new layout and design is a little easier on the eyes but there are still a lot of things I want to update to really make it easy for you to read new articles and surface older ones that you might have missed. Be on the lookout for many new iterations of the site to come in 2014.
Our reach on Social media has also been growing and our fan base on Facebook passed the 9000 mark! Come hang out with us here and remember to share your photos or ask questions
Another huge milestone that happened this year is I wrote my first printed book! I have written a few small eBooks in the past and this was my first book that got printed. It was a great experience overall and a lot of work going through the entire writing and editing process. I really have a large amount of respect for professional writers now, it took a countless number of hours to get the book done but was something that I was very happy with at the end. You can check out the book on Amazon here:
A HUGE thank you again to all of our readers! I started this site to share my passion for photography and appreciate all of your comments and feedback along the way.
